The ALPS Mountaineering Zephyr 3 model (#5322619) is ideal for those hot, muggy nights when you want to feel a breeze in your tent. The walls are composed entirely of mesh, allowing maximum ventilation and fresh air. The unique 2 pole design gives you more head room to sit up, without feeling cramped. The Zephyr features aircraft alloy aluminum poles, which are strong and lightweight. There are two doors on each side to make it easy to get in and out of the tent. There are also two vestibules over each door that create a great place to store your extra gear. The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to elastic cord. Great value; high quality. A bit small.

This is almost identical to the ALPS Zephyr 2, with a bit more width. Please check the Zephyr 2 reviews for more reviews and some pictures I posted.I gave the Zephyr 3 4 instead of 5 stars only because I really cannot see how you could fit three adults in this tent. My expectations for space were a little higher than with the Zephyr 2, which I also own. However, it is high quality, light, and can be found at very low prices from time to time. If you find a good deal and need a tent for TWO adults, snatch this up.here is what I wrote about the Zephyr 2, which also applies here, other than the fact that it is really a 2-person (like many other "3-person" tents).At the price, this is a great tent.Here are the only downsides I can find so far with the Zephyr:1) The footprint is hard to find. Search for "floor saver."2) There are partial sleeves so you cannot pitch the footprint/fly and then be sheltered to pitch the rest of the tent. However, you can pitch just footprint (not included) and fly for a light shelter.3) With the fly door unzipped all the way, water can enter the tent. Just don't unzip all the way if it is raining.I have now decided that #3 is not bad, as it allows a nice view straight up at the stars when you are laying down with the fly open.I bought this tent because I found a great deal and loved my Zephyr 2. It has not disappointed, and I knew before buying that 3 people would be unrealistic.

Great tent, great value

Background: Scouts, hiking, orienteering, (limited) adventure racingI actually have the Zenith 3 which is basically the same tent, just a couple years older and different color fly.This is a great tent for camping and backpacking. For size, it is more suited to 2 people or 1 adult and 2 kids.Water: camped in the rain, no problems with water. Love the full rain fly and 2 vestibules to keep gear and wet boots outside. Did not do any seam sealing, did not need it.Temperature: got to mid 40's (fahrenheit) and with a cheap sleeping bag and stocking cap, was very comfortable.Ease of setup/take down: Setup was dry and was able to set up in about 5-7 minutes. Take down was rainy and was able to take down in less than 5 minutes.Weight: aluminum poles, very lightI would and have recommended this tent to friends and colleagues.

I purchased this tent for a July 4th camping trip in SW Colorado. True to the nature of mountain camping, it rained, HARD all 4 nights and most of each day. This tent kept me, my dogs and my gear completely dry. I agree that getting 3 (average sized) people into this tent may be a challenge but I had plenty of room for myself, an air matress, all my stuff, a great dane, a labrador and a cocker spaniel. The tent was super easy to set-up and lightweight.
